I refused to to take Edwin's quest or have anything to do with him. This ticked him off and he went hostile. Edwin teleported out and left some shadow thieves behind,, I made quick work of them. I go back downstairs to Mae'Ver and he wouldn't talk to me..... so I just took them out, killed 'em all. I freed the pathetic prisoner, too. I can't go back in Mae'Ver's Guildhall, I am immediately killed by either shadowed or invisible assasins. I went back to the Shadow Thieves Guild and Bloodscalp is pissed that I made a mess, but they are NOT hostile. My question is,,,,, I haven't committed a gamestopper, have I ??

Unless you're a thief, it won't affect your game. Renal's quest and Gaelan Bayle's offer have little to do with each other, so don't sweat it.

PS: The actual quote is: "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." (Benjamin Franklin, "Historical Review of Pennsylvania", 1759) I don't mean to poke fun at you, but sticking to the original patriot's own words makes your belief a bit more convincing, considering I share the same belief myself.

PPS: Did you know that under the Patriot Act, library material checkout lists by certain patrons can be requested and actions can be taken against those patrons JUST based on those records?! Many libraries in the US are in the process of or have already erased these records to protect their patrons. (The overseas Bush-bashers ain't alone. Dean for President!)

It does not stop your game but it is a really good quest to finish for a new party. If you have any previous saves before u dissagreed with Edwin then load from there and do everything the RIGHT way.

Ps: Even if you are a theif it does not neccecerially stop your game but it severly hinders your game.

I've got another question concerning this: does your tainted relationship with Renal corrupt your relationship with Aran in any way; i.e. do you get the Shadow Thieves' help anyway when you go fight Bodhi?

PS: Oh, and Dar'tanian: to answer the question in your sig. The fourth musketeer is really named d'Artagnan. Or did you know that already, and it was just a rhetorical question/joke?

Also, following Renal Bloodscalp's instructions correctly will result in a large gain in experience

To answer Link, not in the slightest. Two different people, two different alignments, two different agendas.

To refute Dar'tanian and Lord, the experience isn't really necessary, especially if you have ToB installed. (And how can it hinder your game?) Yeah, it's a nice little chunk, and pretty easy to get if you don't have Tactics installed, but there's oodles to pick up in Athkatla. No worries. (And if you're still worrying, many battles in the game are based off the party's level, so you don't need a poop-ton of experience for most of them. And if the fights are too hard, that's the game's way of saying "you're doing this too early!" )

I mean that it will hinder your game if you are a theif because of the theif stronghold, these quest give alota exp. and money and items. It is allways good to have a stronghold, you gotta admit that.

LINK: Hah very rhetorical, but i can not spell it ether, i cant even spell rhetorical! O god....

Thanks for the exact quote. All I have heard is the paraphrase. The "Patriot Act"(Christ, WHAT a misnomer) is frigging Nazi, and almost qualifies as Lawfull Evil.

I already checked with Aran, he's still hunky dory, and is impatient to go sailing!! BTW, I will have nothing to do with Edwin that doesn't resemble the back of my hand, or the front of my wand. I have Minsc in the party. We have been together since BG1. Defeated Sarevok together. I WILL NOT risk losing my main battle tank to alignment conflicts. I got a fright when Aerie left me because she had become Minsc's "witch", and I thought he might leave, but he didn't. If the future dictates that I HAVE to deal with Edwin because he becomes a "portal" to completeing the game, well,,, I'll role-play that when I get there.

Aerie leaves you because she becomes Minsc witch in his 'dajemma' (nice question for Quiz 5 btw: "What is the name of Minsc's journey?")? I thought he would only go berserk when Aerie would die, because he failed saving his witch once again.
