I have not got there yet, but those guys outside talked like it was not a good thing to kill the demon. I wonder why? I would be interested to know if it drops your rep, or does Helm curse you or what is the deal! Why did the guy give me a scroll to read to re-seal the monkey-boy if my whole intention is to kill him?

He doesn't drop anything. That's because bioware decided that they didn't want to imply that you had to kill him. He is very killable, although the fewer mages against him the better your party's chances are (90% resistance). He doesn't cast any protections tho. What I did was have Minsc dualing Crom Fayer and FoA w/4 heads, my PC (monk), Keldorn w/Carsomyr (+5), and Jaheira w/Ixil's spear thingy (the upgraded version) all with boots of speed, Greater Whirlwinded them all, attacked, when it wore off did it again (w/minsc, keldorn, and the monk, jaheira didn't have another), and he was dead. Then it's just the other 2 demons, which do cast protections, and some greater whirlwinds + breaches finished them off.

I got plenty of gold, items, and experience out of Watchers Keep it was just what it was designed to do, load me up with more stuff.
There were FINALLY some hard battles in the bottom levels, I was tired of running into the same stuff, giths, mindflayers, la lallala another dragon, lalla. you get the idea.
Hitting a full enemy party that was STRONG was a breath of fresh air, I actually had to use more than one or 2 spells to beat them, I actually had to play a fully powered up character.

And took me a while to finish off the Final foe (you all know what one), but wasn't too difficult, I got the great use of my new 10th level energy blades spells. But boy I HATE when he begiles my Mordainkens swords! how the hell can you begile an unliving object? guess he can.

The advantage of beating demogorgon is you get a LOT of quest exp. I think about 80K per character. if you then go to the priests and forgive them, you get 50K per character more. If you just seal him in with the helm scroll, you get like 75K exp per character, if you use ogden's scroll, it's about 50K per. Don't quote me on exact numbers, but that's just to give a relative idea. Oh, Demogorgon is immune to time stop, so don't cast it--it essentially freezes your other 5 characters.

Yea he was tough, but not super tough. I summoned a deva and some Mordainken's swords to keep him busy at first.

round 1 I cast some reducing spells on him, to make it harder just in case he had any defenses up, pierce magic, breach, ruby ray, lower resistance, etc.

round 2 I had my mages summon some energy blades and whip those at him. I had characters do quick run and hit techniques, since he likes to target your characters over the summoned creatures if you get into melee.

after he was finally down pretty hurt, I hit him full speed to kill him off quick before he could do anything else. Then I had to fight and kill the 2 summoned demons, which are tough, but you can run around and fight those.

You can't run around the level with demogorgon, you have to fight him in one battle, no running away out of sight and comming back. The first time you melee with him he summons 2 demons, if you go away and come back, he summons ALOT of demons the 2nd time on, so you want to finish him right off the bat. 2 demons extra is alot better than having 10 demons summoned in.

The best way to deal with Mr.Demo is to concentrate ALL attacks on him. Do this for 2 reasons: he regenerates fairly quickly, and once you kill his pit demons, he'll summon more, and more, and more.

HINT: Don't cast time stop - orsay good bye to your party! I FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY! GRRRRR!!!

GO DWARVES GO!
