I've left my original post below in case any of it's still relevant.
I installed some mods onto the computer where BG2 was installing okay, then they're seemed to be a problem because Imoen wouldn't come to get me out of my cage at the very start. [In case it's relevant - here's the mods I had. Maybe they're not all compatible together - I sort of went overboard in downloading loads: Shadows over Soubar Unfinished Business Tortured Souls Quest Pack v.2 Virtue The Magnificent Magic Store The One Ring The Holy Hand Grenade Item Value Tweaks RPG Dungeon Item Pack Rest Anywhere Potion Quest NPC Kit Pack NPC Flirt Pack Nightmares Beautification Mordan's Xmas Mod Market prices LOTR Item Pack Imoen Romance Gibberling Three Anniversary Mod Cloakwood Squares Mod for the Orderly (the keyring) Cal-Culator Bottomless Containers Banter Packs Tashia NPC Kelsey NPC Bons' Bruce NPC Willie Bruce NPC Fade NPC Ghareth NPC Goo NPC Hessa NPC Alassa NPC Allison NPC Hubelpot NPC Kariv NPC Keto NPC Kido NPC Kitanya NPC Kiara and Zaiya NPCs Saerileth NPC SilverStar NPC Yasraena NPC All Race Romance Bonus CD Merchants Karzak's Skip Introduction Shut Up "You Must Gather Your Party..." Sir Kalthorine Ut Wistan's Evil Override Before these I installed the Bioware ToB patch and the Baldurdash fixpack, and then as these were all WEIDu I wasn't sure if there was an order to install them in] Anyway, after this little problem I thought I've put too many mods on so I decided to go uninstall everything and then put it back on with a more sensible amount of mods. But now the game won't install. It gets to the file 'OBJAnim.bif' - like it did on the other computer - and says there's a 'Component Transfer Error'. What can I do about this file? It seems to be shut away in the 'data2.cab' file that I can't open. Original post: I've got what seems to be a common problem but none of the common solutions I've searched for here are working! It's that old "Please insert CD5" request that seems to have bugged others. The game was working fine, then I was installing a bunch of mods and one of them (an extra soundset I think) caused the dialog.tlk file to mess up and become 0kb. So I uninstall, delete all the files, and go to re-install and I get the problem. I've tried all three different installs and every time it asks for the other disks when it reaches the file 'OBIAnim.bif'. I tried to copy the disks to the hard drive but it won't copy the file 'data2.cab' from CD1. It takes ages then says it can't read from the source file or disk. I tried giving each disk a while in the drive before clicking OK and it doesn't work. So then I thought it could be a problem with the disks so I tried installing on my other computer (the family one) and it installs fine with no problems. But i don't want it on this computer I want it on the other one! I'm all confused with what could be wrong, and just wondering if anyone has any ideas?
