Sorcerer spell picks... help me to not waste 'em!

Is there any good sorcerer spell lists out there?

I am pretty good with mages, but I've never played ToB before, and I don't want to regret any choices I make with my low level Sorcerer (I'm level 8 now).

There is a list of recommended Sorcerer spell picks. I think you can find it at Sorcerer's Planet website, click into Games > BG2 > Walkthroughs.

I've always found Identify and Magic Missile to be incredible 1st level spells, that wil help you from Irenicus' dungeon all the way to the end of ToB.

It helps a lot to play a wizard for a while before trying out a sorcerer, so that you form your own style of a spellcaster. Everyone has different styles, so people have different versions of "the ultimate" sorcerer.

BTW, always cast stoneskin and Melf's Minute Meteors (if you can) before you go to sleep, and choose Wish (if you have a high Wisdom... which should probably be at least 16) and you can replenish all of your spells as many times as you like.

choosing spells depends on what kind of player you are really if your roleplaying you might want to pick some good solid defensive spells but if you power gaming just pick anything that does damage and ull rip through the game.....move over gods here comes a beefed up sorcerer

Casting Melf's Minute Meteors all the time can be a double-edged sword, once you get the Staff of Magi.

On gamebanshee's strategy guide page there is a solo sorcerer's guide that has a really nice set. Since you get 5 spell slots per level, a few underrated spells are:
Chromatic Orb (acid damage for trolls)
Spook
Web + Spider Spawn/Stinking Cloud(wand)
Spell thrust(Spellstrike for level 6 and lower)
And not so underrated are the planetars and project images. Dont bother with simulacrum. Gate is only good in tactics and even then the pit fiend won't attack people. Time stop/ Imp Alac is a given. Pierce shield is nice, but the casting time makes Ruby ray a bit better. Too bad Ruby shares a slot with Images.
