Disposable Aerie? (possible spoilers)

Is there a character that can reasonably replace Aerie? As a cleric/mage I know is practically infinitely useful, but A.) she's super-annoying, B.) I'm trying to go through the romance with Jaheira, and C.) I want to keep as much of my original (BG1) crew together as I can.

Can Imoen replace her?

Also, as a side-note, is Jaheira as good as Cernd? (Saw fight at Druid Grove, and "WOW!!!"

Does Nalia have anything else to add after I get the stronghold?

So basically this is party advice (again!) and several questions in one post. Oh well, multi-posting is evil anyways!

On replacing Aerie- If by letting her go and you don't have a cleric Anomen would be your best bet. I find him way more annoying than Aerie though.

I think Jaheira gives you a lot more options than Cernd at high levels. She can wear armor and shields. She can specialize in her weapons. And if you have TOB she gets high level fighter abilities.

I can't answer your Nalia question.

I doubt that there is any NPC more annoying than Aerie. An effective substitute for her would be a Nalia and Anomen team. Both of these will easily surpass Aerie in clerical and spell casting abilities and provide some interesting banter.

Nalia becomes a very competent mage epically when equipped with a certain robe. It is a pity that the Nalia romance module is just plain bad.

Re the Druid Grove fight - if you were "spectating", (highlight for spoiler)Cernd wins automatically - if Cernd was actually in your party, Cernd will have a lot more trouble, I know, I just did that part myself, and it's NOT like the scripted cutscene... So careful with Cernd, he's not a melee fighter, he just has more druid spells.

I mean no offense. May I disagree? You can do so she stop talking to you. Also after a certain point she is not annoyng. Let me tell you that she had over 20% of all the killings in the game after I rolled it. Also she never died. Also she can turn undead - did you seen what happens to the undead when 26 lvl cleric is near turning them ? I think there is no need to explain how powerful is a cleric/mage at the higher levels. To develop Jaheira is harder than developing Aerie, but she is extremly dangerous at the highest levels - you know fighter/druid when she shapeshift to fire elemental and attack with greater whirlpool and have more priest lvl 7 slots than Aerie. I have developed them both to their 25+ levels. If you want I may send you my savegame at the throne before the last fight so you may see and try Aerie, Jaheira, Minsc, Keldorn, Imoen and lvl 28 sorcerer.

What is the problem - just do it. I'm trying the same right now, but I've Tashia with me and I'm wondering what will happen with the two romances, but this is another topic.

Imoen can not replace Aerie. Imoen is a mage. she'll got her first time stop earlier than aerie, but will never have the ability to do 10d10 blunt damage with a spell. Its a pity that you can not level up her as a thief.

The only way I can think of to replace Aerie completely would be to pick two other NP's instead of her.

I assume you mean right after you've gotten rid of the invaders at De'Arnise Keep then yes, several NPC's have extra quests that will unfold after a week or so if you have them in your party.

well you can end your romance with shadowkeep ... or
you could just answer the wrong things and then after a while
she will shut up , or you add minsc and aerie and then minsc and
aerie will start a romance i believe or was it the bard ?
