i think it would be lame if you could pickpocket his sword from him in BG I, anyway. if he doesn't have that sword in the final fight, your guy would have a very significant advantage.
and, yeah, finding the sword of chaos at the beginning of BG II is not too big a deal, considering the vast power of other items you soon acquire in the game. it just makes for a satisfying kind of find, more than one of extreme power.... |

Actually, I've found that even if you pickpocket weapons from people, the game still thinks they have them. Try Picking an Amnish Guard sometime; you'll get (along with a gem or something) a Longbow and a Long Sword. And if you then attack him, he fights back with [guess what?] his Longbow and Long Sword, which are not on his body when he dies. Sarevok will most likely be the same way, or he WOULD be the same way if he didn't turn hostile as soon as any member of your party comes within his sight range.
I'm GLAD you can't use Sarevok's equipment--is would be cheesy as hell to have EVERYbody's Tank start BG2 wearing EXACTLY the same thing. It should be bonded to Sarevok, like Xan's Moonblade. But you should start BG2 with it in your inventory any, operating on the assumption that OF COURSE you would take it with you--it's the best armor you've ever seen. If you can't wear it, at least you can sell the stuff or keep it for a trophy. |
