I would like some advice. Mind you, no powergaming advice. I am well aware of the Sorcerer spell lists, that's not what I am looking for.

I have, on the chalkboard for quite some time, a Sorcerer project. I wanted the flavour to be more of the classic PnP Sorcerer, utterly random and unpredictable. I realize I can't get random spell selection, so, I am going to shoot for the next best thing. Being a Child of Murder, I want CHAOS!

She is going to be the Sneezing Sorceress. Magic for her, will not be a totally controlable act. It will be something that happens much like a sneeze, and often times placing both her and her party at risk. This is going to be quite a challenge I think, I will really need to focus on resist items and spells for the whole party. Resist Fire and Cold comes to mind from the Clerics. My secondary mage will also keep a few protection spells memorized at all times for when Sneezy goes ape.

The advice I am looking for, or at least hoping for some opinions from the long time veterans, is the most insane spell selection possible. Consequences be damned. I want a Sorceress who spits out gobs of grease, webs, fireballs, ice storms, toxic clouds, noxious fogs, utter chaos. Summons, well, I don't think they would be wise as my area of effect spells would probably hit them and make them hostile.

Just how bad is Sphere of Chaos as a spell? I have never actually used it... I am pondering it's possibility. Will my party survive the onslaught of uncontrolable magic erruptions? Am I doomed to failure with this idea? Mind you, I am a hardcore variant player... But this seems somewhat risky even to me. Launching out a skull trap at the wrong moment could toast my party, but, that's a risk I am going to have to take for roleplaying.

I really want to avoid direct damage spells, like Fire Arrow for example. I want wide cluster bomb like damage that is impossible to control.

So, any advice on spell lists for the Insane Sneezing Sorceress?

"Shadowkeep" in Nahal's Reckless Dweomer and have her cast all of her spells through that one.

That would require ToB. Butterfingers does not have ToB, although yes, that would have been an excellent suggestion.

No. That would be cheating. Not my bag.

She is going to be Chaotic Neutral, driven mad by the consequences of her own inner power. However, I will try to avoid killing the innocent. I really want to try to. She has enough on her mind, mass murder could only make her slip further into madness. Since I don't have the Bonus Merchants, and, there is no Robe of the Neutral Archmagi, I was wondering what the stats are on the Cloak of the Apprenti. Never had it made before, thinking about having it made during my stronghold quests in this game. Is it worth having or should I just stick with a Traveler's Robe? Does it make your character look neat? Does it give a Mage a hooded look? Funky colours like the Jester's chain?

There is a Robe of the Neutral Archmagi in SoA, but you will need to recruit Edwin into your party, at least for a while.

Edwin attracts people, neutral people. If you catch my drift.

Without ToB installed, it's sometimes possible to get the spell if you have the game pick your spells for you during character generation. I fooled around with this once before ToB came out (and before I had ever heard of Shadowkeeper), my conjuror ended up polymorphed into a squirrel vs. a group of Irenicus' goblins, and she bit them all to death! After that I stopped playing her and started a new character.

You don't have to cheat. See my comment above.

IIRC it simply gives you an AC of 3. I don't recall the color scheme, but it probably wasn't anything funky.
