right, i've started a new game and hav 3 pcs. one of them is a thief/fighter named valen.
she leveled up after i escaped Irenicus's dungeon and gained 25 more points to add to her thieving abilities. will she get that every level? if so as my find traps/ open locks and pick pockets abilities r so hi, she will just never fail to do all of them. i'll never hav to pay for items again

What are we talking about? A multiclass thief/fighter?
 Anyways, I think that your character will have 25% to divide until a certain point; at least in IWD you couldn't get the thieving stats higher than 130% or something similar (not sure, been a while). But that should suffice for most of the traps and locks in the game that aren't impossible to remove or magical.
