I have finished the Smurf quest and have the light gem. I have gone all over the map (even to the drow gates) to the tadpole pools and into the beholder cave but cannot find the cave. Is it down the third southeastern cavern? Am I missing something?

Also, how in the heck do you beat those nasties after you make the sacrifice?

To kill nasties, use many buffed summons (skeleton warriors, aerial servants, mord. swords... with haste, bless, chant...) Also, try to kill one that spawns left of the statue first. I think he is the most powerful.

Adalon's cave is...

to kill to 'nasties' - have your party wait in the corridor outside the chamber - and send the animal sacrifice up to the statue. Then lure the chaos knights(?) out one at a time.

You still ought to use summons as shield.

The Demon Knights are indeed scary at the beginnig, but it's a fun fight.
Just watch and learn their moves, and be prepare for it next time you reload.

Some (if not all) of them have Level Draining attacks - so find a ways to protect yourself (Amulet of Power, Mace of Disruption, Nagetive Plane Protection, Summons).
As Demons, they'll use Fear and Stun spells - so Chaotic Commands and Remove Fear are must-haves.
They're all very Magic Resistant - so instead of blasting them with spells - blast them with summons! No Magic Resistance in the world can prevent a Skeleton Warrior from hiting.
Finally, if you're feeling cheesy, lay all kinds of traps in the Demons' spawning spot.

And it is incorrect: Svirfneblin Encampment is actually Duergar Encampment.

True.
But since he asked about Adalon's cave - no harm done.
