Watchers L3- 2 hearts (spoilers!)

I'm in L3 Watchers and the first Demon (Talazzar I think) did not offer to let me hunt down the Baatezu for him. I know this is not a bug as I've had him offer it to other parties. He said I reeked of goodness so best kill me now. Well, admittedly, I do have Keldorn, Aerie, Imoen, Nalia, Me (CG Ranger), and Jaheira, so I am kinda camp-fire-song-kum-ba-ya oriented.

So, he kicked my butt, then I knew better, so I pumped and rocked his world. I have not advanced beyond that, and I have the gem + his heart. Can I work this quest in any way to get the quest points or is the Baatezu going to immediately attack me as well. Can I replay it and have someone else (e.g. Jaheira) talk w/ him to get the quest?

Any advice is welcome.

Also - if you happen to know, what is the one-hit wonder that will sometimes kill my main character on this level and against these fiends?

Some demons have vorpal hits, i believe Baatezu and Baalors both have a chance of making a vorpal-hit,.. which sends your head into a kamikaze-attack aimed at the ground [img]smile.gif[/img]

Daan is correct - i don't know about the Baatezu, but the Balor has 15% of landing a Vorpal Hit - with *no save*!

So, anyone out there know the answer regarding my Q as to gaining / finishing the *quest* rather than just killing all the baddies?

i too am a chaotic good ranger
one would attack me and the other would offer me terms
this didn't change regardless of who i visited first {i went back through to try both ways}
it is definitely an alignment issue
who wants to be a merc for planescum anyway hehe
