SPOILER!!!

Got the cloak of mirrors?? It is found in the fish-city (didnt bother to remember the name of that pathetic creatures), one of the rebels wear it. Sweep clean the streets and loot EVERY corpse so you find it. Wear it on, and ALL the spells cast on you by beholders, gauth and such are reversed, so a circle of ~10 beholder statues around your char is quite a common picture But try to kill them yourself BEFORE they get themselves pertrificated, so that you get the XP. If you just simply knock them to pieces no XP will be given ;-(((

Welcome to Ironworks, Myaski!!

There are two items in the game (possibly more) that make Beholders laughably easy.

The first is a Cloak of Mirroring. If you came through the Sahaugin City, you should have picked one of those up.

The other is the Shield of Balduran. You'll need the Bonus merchants from the Collector's Edition to buy that (or you can use Shadowkeeper).

The magic of these items is that they reflect ALL spells BACK at the caster. In other words, all those nasty eye rays get reflected back at the beholders.

I originally tried to take them out using Nalia and Imoen with some heavy spellcasting...but their Magic Resistance to shrugged it off.

Finally, I just sent my character (Wizard Slayer) and Minsc into full throttle melee'. I wiped them out in no time flat (Minsc has the Cloak and I have the Shield).

Sometimes, brute force is the best answer.

So the tactics I forgot. You find yourself at the entrance of the lair, surrounded by an Elder Orb and Beholder. You immediately attack Elder Orb with the char you have that cloak on, while keeping the beholder busy with the other, petrify-protected fighter. Elder Orb will fall in 3-5 seconds, then you switch your firepower etc to the beholder. And then you get your best fighter, give him that cloak and simply sweep clean the whole lair - NO damage at all, and tons of XP!!

You have to attract the attention of the beholder by your protected chars. Choose a formation so that the beast sees the protected char closest to it.

Myaski edit the language on your last post. It is unacceptable, regardless of your frustrations.

And, again, remember to put a spoiler warning in your post for others who may not have gotten as far as you in the game.
