I found some really hard riddles (I thought so anyway ) and wondered if anyone else would like to have a go...

1)There are 10 statements written on a piece of paper:

1 - At least one of statements 9 and 10 is true.
2 - This either is the first true or the first false statement.
3 - There are three consecutive statements, which are false.
4 - The difference between the numbers of the last true and the first true statement divides the number, that is to be found.
5 - The sum of the numbers of the true statements is the number, that is to be found.
6 - This is not the last true statement.
7 - The number of each true statement divides the number, that is to be found.
8 - The number that is to be found is the percentage of true statements.
9 - The number of divisors of the number, that is to be found, (apart from 1 and itself) is greater than the sum of the numbers of the true statements.
10 - There are no three consecutive true statements.
What is the number ?

This'll be the first one

OK. Well 6 can only be true, since if it was false then it would not be the last true, and therefore making the statement true.

I’m going to assume that number 2 is correct! If it is correct, then number 1 must be false. If number 1 is false, then number 9 and 10 are also false.

That leaves us with 1F 2T 3? 4? 5? 6T 7? 8? 9F 10F

Is this right so far Downunda? I don’t know where I’m going to go from here! Maybe someone else can take over.

A higher being has informed me that number 4 is correct (thanks to my Protector), so that leaves us with 1F 2T 3? 4T 5? 6T 7? 8? 9F 10F

I'm going to assume that 3 is true for the sake of it. If 3 is true, then 8 must also be true, as there has to be three falses in a row.

That gives us 1F 2T 3T 4T 5? 6T 7? 8F 9F 10F

If 6 is not the last true, then 7 must be true!

Therefore 1F 2T 3T 4T 5? 6T 7T 8F 9F 10F

If 5 is true, then the number would be 27, after adding up all the true numbers. Since 7 is true, this cannot be the case as 27 is not divisible by all the true numbers. Therefore 5 is false!

This gives us 1F 2T 3T 4T 5F 6T 7T 8F 9F 10F

Therefore the number must be divisible by 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7. 42 fits this as it is divisible by all of the true numbers. But, it must also be divisible by 5 (as this is the difference between the first truth and the last truth!) 42 is not divisible by 5!!!!

If I multiply it by ten it is a multiple of all the numbers, and seems to fit all of the statements. So, I’m gonna go with 420!

How’s that Downunda??? Tell me I’m right, so I can go and do some study!

Aviendha, your logic is almost perfect: 42 is not divisible by 4, but 84 is. However, the number 420 is correct.

Are you serious??? Correct!!! I am feeling quite chuffed with myself.

I can't believe I said that 4 went into 42, and still got it right!

Thanks Azred!
