I'm looking at enchanting a sword, but I've only ever enchanted rings or armour/clothes before and I'm a bit confused about the cast when strikes deal. So I'm going to make a poisoning sword. Now it says down the left bottom corner of the enchanting box 'cast when strikes', which is what I want. But then when I go to put an effect, I have the choice of self, target, or touch - which one of target and touch (or self? ) do I want? I just want it to hit the person I'm aiming for.
Also, I'm enchanting an ebony longsword. I have a number of souls; I tried an atronach I have in a grand soul gem but the sword doesn't take very much enchantment - would it be a waste to use that soul, and be better to use the dremora soul in the greater soul gem I have instead? I think the strength of the soul also affects the amount of charges I can get. Oh, and I know an ebony longsword isn't a super good sword, no need to give me 'don't bother with that sword it's crap' advice ![]() On to Engaer, as you may know this is a quest for the fighter's guild - he's a guy I'm supposed to kill in Tel Naga. Well I've looked everywhere and can't for the life of me find him. I looked in a walthrough and supposedly he was behind a door with lock 20, which I found and opened, but no Engaer. This is really driving me up the wall, so any help would be really appreciated! Thanks [ 06-26-2004, 09:10 PM: Message edited by: Aelia Jusa ]

You want "touch", which will cast the spell on whatever you just hit.
"self" means that when you hit someone with your sword, whatever spell you selected will be cast on your character. This is generally used for helpful things. "target" will cause a spell to shoot out and effect the first creature that it hits. As for enchanting: It's been my experience that weapons should get the strongest soul you have, they will burn their avaible charges suprisingly quickly, however this really depends on how you use your weapon. Engaer is in the upper tower, on the same level of the tower as Neloth. Remember that the towers tend to have multiple levels that my require some effort to move between. |

Thanks for that, Seraph! Although I know I looked up there because the walkthrough said he was in the upper tower - I opened the door right near Neloth but he wasn't behind there (though I did pick up a nice grandmaster alchemy thing
