After beating the game to death with my barbarian orc, I decided I wanted a challenge, so I chose a magic-user; a witch-hunter

It's black and white. Melee = painstakingly easy, magic = horrendously difficult. Every fight is a struggle. Those small larva-things take 2 greater fireballs, those flying things take 4.. I just spent the last 20 minutes figuring out how to kill 1 single orc in a dwemer dungeon. With my barbarian, I wouldn have yawned as my single axe-swing would have cleaved him right open.. there's such a huge difference in difficulty, they could easily have stated it at the character-class-selection screen:

Fighter = easy
Ranger = Medium
Mage = I want my mommy

It might be more difficult, but it sure as hell is a lot more entertaining. My barbarian was invincible the moment he got his daedric war axe (80 in dmg) .. which was quite early in the game. I didn't have to use berserk once!

With my barbarian orc, I joined the fighter's and the assassin's guild, as well as the temple. Now I plan to join the mage's guild (which I already have) the thieves' guild and the imperial legion. That way, I get every MW-faction (maybe swing by vampirism if I get the time ) in just 2 tries

Just a few hints. Do these factions collide? I remembered one of the early mission with the fighters guild was to get a codebook from the thieves' guild in balmora. That ended in tears as I cleaved my way through the 10 thieves in that quaint little house. Any similar quest from any of my chosen factions ?

Oh.. how do you enchant items yourself? I figured out how you can get the vendors to do it (although it took some time before I figured it out), but how do I get my character to do it?

nope. sound like they collide but actually they don't. just use your creativity to solve the quest.

make you enchanting skill up to 70 and intellect 80. then you can mostly successfully enchant item. but always save first before you do anything.

Some tricks for the magic user are(pure magic)... Get alot of spells.

Witch hunters arent pure magic users. They rely more on Bows and agility than wasting people with magic. The witch hunter can enchant items and such to make them better.

One way of making your spells better... Mix and match... Say i have a fireball, and want a better fireball. Ill go to my local spell maker and select spellmaking. I will then combine Reduce fire resistance on target with fire damage on target. Now i have a fireball that makes enemies weak to it while the damage is being done. The illusion area is also handy, cast high level calm spells and the monsters wont attack you for that amount of time. Get a bonemold bow and enchant it.

On that note, redgaurds are the best fighters. Adreneline rush is amasing.

If you take a class that requires multipule actions. Fortify luck any way you can. Luck is such an amasing attribute its not even funny. The only problem is you cant raise it more than 1 at a time. Now a witch hunter uses int, wil, spd, agl. This is alot of statistics to raise. It would be more advantagous to leave two of them lower (say wil/spd) and raise luck instead. It should give you that boost to abilities that you need to make the game a bit easier.

luck is the best attribute in Morrowind when regarding success. There is not other stat that will incease as many rolls. Shame its so hard to raise.

you can easily temporarily raise luck when you need to (spells or potions), i can't believe you'd want to sacrifice speed for it.

one advice for the wanna-be mage - use levitate! just hover over the enemies where they can't reach you and rain destruction upon them .

I don't think raising attributes is all that difficult. All you need is a couple of items worth 2-300.000 (a couple of daedric and ebony things will do the trick) 3 80.000-grand soul gem and, 2 exquisite rings and 1 exquisite amulet. Once you've enchanted 1 ring with +24 to speed (or luck) you sell your items (the ones worth 300.000) to get your money back. Then you enchant another ring with 24 new attributes.. sell some stuff to get your money back.. rince and repeat.. The difficult part is that you have to have about 70.000 to start with, but that's easily obtainable.

Go to ghostgate
Buy indoril armour
Wear it
Ordinators will attack on sight, and you are then allowed to kill them.
Take their armour and weapon (ebony mace ŕ 16.000)
Do this until you're loaded with expensive gear.
Go to Caldera and sell your stuff to the creeper
Sleep 24 hours in between to allow the creeper to restock on gold (or whatever the currency is)

I used this method with my barbarian orc to get 2 rings with +24 to speed and 1 amulet with +24 to strength..

With "constant effect, you don't have to rely on spells/scrolls to hover over your enemies.

As of now, I haven't been able to cast the levitate spell once. It takes 25% of my magicka, so I can only cast it 4 times before I have to sleep. Yesterday I cast the spell 4 times and slept over and over again.. I think I slept/cast levitate for a week, and still didn't manage to successfully cast the spell once. Perhaps I need to train that ability. Right now, I've only focused on Destruction.

The problem with levitate is that most of the difficult monsters are indoors in mines, ancestral vaults, shrines, etc where there's not a lot of room to hover.

Another "problem": Because my armour (light, medium, heavy) is so low, every piece of armour I find have less than 10 in armour rating.. I found an ebony helm at lvl 4, worth 15.000 and it had 6 in armour rating.. a tad annoying..(however the Umbra sword (east of Suran) had it's usual properties.. I guess "unique" items have fixed properties)

edit: I need help on 2 subquests I didn't manage to complete last time I played
1. North west of Caldera, there's a naked guy who wants me to go kill the witch who stole his clothes. Where's the witch?
2. There's a woman I'm supposed to escort who will give me boots of blinding speed if I get her to her destination. Where is she located, and where does she need to go?

Thanks.

I can't remember well but here goes, from where you are talking to that naked barbarian, go west along the road to find the lady who will give you the boots.she want to go to gnaar mok

for that witch, go north after talking to naked barbarian, you'll reach a fork between road to caldera mining company and road to err..( I forgot ). take the road to err..( I forgot ) and you'll reach the witch.
