Hi

Just wanted to know how the game behaves, when you take your characters beyond the XP cap.

How far are you able to level?
Are you able to cast 5th level spells (when your mage reaches high enough level)?
Do you get your extra HP, thieving skill bonuses and *'s?

Depends on the experience cap remover.

Yes.

Yes.

With the TOTSC add-on, the XP cap increases and will enable mages and clerics to cast 5th level spells without the need for a seperate remover.

Minor correction. While TotSC does allow Mages to memorise 5th Level Spells due to the increased XP Cap, Clerics are still unable to memorise their 5th Level Spells due to the fact that they need to be level 9 in order to memorise their 5th Level Spells, and to be level 9, they need 225,000 XP which way above the TotSC's XP Cap of 161,000.

Much to the dismay of my Cleric, but oh well... ...

Sucks to be a Cleric, but there you go.

Ah, I know my ranger/cleric couldn't cast 5th level spells but I figured that would have to do with the multiclassing. Good thing that question was not in the quiz

Makes you wonder why they even bother including the 5th Level Spells in the manual huh?

"Oh cool! I can't wait to cast these! Hey... wait a minute."

They probably figured it'd make a perfect hidden advertisment for BG2. No wait, it may just have been ill thought out

I guess that the XP cap was one of the last minute changes before the game was released

Never found a scroll of fifth-level spell?

There are ninth-level spells in SoA manual as well. And there are 9th level scrolls.
