I do most of my forum browsing via dial-up, and all day yesterday Sea Monkey kept timing out when I tried checking in here. I figured that you were down to perform the promised site software upgrade. But today (at 2:30 AM?), I'm seeing two-three minute delays going from one index page to another. I don't think that I've ever seen Ironworks this slow before. Member traffic can't be the reason at this late (early) hour!

Anyone have a clue? I tried the link for "Webmaster" to ask privately, but that one timed out a few minutes ago.

Incidentally, it's been so long since I came straight from elsewhere to the Home page here, rather than straight to the forums, and checking there afterward, that when I tried that yesterday, I got a page from 2002, when the spinning hammers were the site's logo. That page wasn't delayed at all when it loaded, but it was rather odd seeing the old stuff again.

I wonder if there's any special reason that something that old has never been erased to make room on the servers?

Could have been being worked on--they say that they usually do their network maint. after 12am through 5 or 6am. Could have been that, or it could have been some hop in between you and I.

The day before I change over to the new forum, I'll give a warning. It'll be very soon now. Just redoing a few database tweaks.

We'll be using the latest and greatest software, and when you post or add a reply, the page will not have to reload--tons of other features as well--spoiler tags is one biggie too.

I kept seeing that problem, only on the forums, but not the other parts of the site, for almost three days. Then it suddenly cleared up completely. I was going to look up how to record the results of a ping test to report to the ISP. Never needed to.

Every time i post, it takes a solid minute for it to be displayed. Needless to say, it makes posting a little bothersome!
