Time was, when the only way you had a screensaver was to hire some poor guy to march back and forth in front of you, holding a sign reading "Be back soon." Now, there are dozens of clever, well-animated, attractive screensavers that, if you had them back during the Renaissance, would probably have gotten you burnt at a stake by a fearful populace.
No, scratch that. Let's focus on today, and the poll: Just what screensaver do you use most, and which do you like best? I'm personally still very fond of my old After Dark. Many of the later screensavers in the collection still work at their proper speed despite our latest computer's speed. A couple of other excellent ones, though, are the oddly named Life4s9, and Hot Ice. What about yours? |

The only one I ever realy use is Flying Windows. Old, but good. I once was stuck with using a Channel screensaver... hated it!!
Mostly though, I dont have one set. I just use the standby, or even turn the monitor off. Far less annoying to watch then a heap of wierd looking objects flying at you from the middle of your screen somewhere... |

At the moment I have a very cool matrix code emulator screen saver. Very nice... it's almost worth not doing anything just to watch it.

I still have the ancient dazzle screen saver. Of course now it doesn't go as slow.

I just let mine fade to black. Boring, but safe, in the office.

quote: Dazzle! I actually came across my old copy a couple of months ago. It's been such a long time since I did a lot of work in DOS, that I long since gave up its use. But it really was excellent, wasn't it? Life4s9 and Hot Ice are somewhat similar, by the way--you may want to look for 'em on a search on the web, and check 'em out. |
