I heard about this new game coming out and while I won't be able to play it till summer due to workload, I'd love to hear some opinions from people as to what they think of it. It's supposed to be the bees' knees of RPGs to date (at least till NWN2 comes out). Now I wasn't one of those who enjoyed Morrowind (I thought it was a bit boring, confusing and pointless, but maybe that's just me). Can anyone provide any feedback on this game whether it's as good as advertised?

I seriously think it's game of the year. I can't see how an RPG style as restricted as D&D can compete with this.

I notice that all the screenshots have the view as first-person...are there other views that can be used? I'm not a big fan of first person...

You can change the view to 3rd person, and walk around like that, but it would be very difficult to play like that - there really is no accounting for targeting. It would be awkward to say the least. It's really more of a vanity feature than anything else.

There are no words to describe this game, if you have a decent machine and can see it in all its glory, its worth any dollar ammount

I have not been able to really enjoy games like I used to for a while, but this game was the first game in a while that made me REALLY want to continue playing at every turn

Except for the prolems I had in the beginning with the NPC pathfinding....

If you're not a fan of first person, then you may have difficulty with this one. The combat is specifically tailored to suit 1PP. It feels natural to me. In fact, if i had to choose a single feature that Oblivion excels over Morrowind the most, it'd be the improvements to combat. But there's still a lot of room for improvement.

Just wondering Memsie, do you have similar trouble with first person shooters? Or just the rpgs?

Oblivion is great...it's the most immersive computer roleplaying game I've ever played...though I refuse to play MMOs...

It isn't as versatile as PnP, but it's about as close as one can get, and delivers much better visuals than PnP is capable of directly, unless you have the world's best GM.
