Hey everyone.
I played a bit of ToB, but never finished it, as I went back to Soa to complete the Jaheira romance. I have seen a little bit of info about this Ascension mod, made by one of the guys who worked on the original game. It says it makes the ending of ToB "longer, funner and a little more fulfilling". For those of you who have tried with and without: what do you think? Is it really worth it? *PLEASE*, do not spoil me (as I said I haven't played through all of ToB yet), but give me an idea if there are significant changes. Have there been any bugs/ problems with it?

I asked this question some time ago ...
and got an overwhelming -yes- to installing it ...
I've never played ToB wihtout it, but the end is much more unfulfilling without it .. apparently.

It alters dialogues and introduces some nice new options, beginning around chap. 9 ....
Be carefull though, the end-battle with the ascension-MoD is VERY VERY difficult !!
I gave up, simply started a new game and try not to think about my defeat

P.s. Try installing all the " Improved tougher baddies" too, at Baldurdash for instance .. it makes the game a WHOLE lot more challenging ( and more fun too )

P.s.p.s
Try not to visit the ToB-forum too often .. i ran into some unwanted spoilers, which gave away the entire plot actually
Or atleast look through other posts with care

Thanks!
I am wondering now.... I like a challenge, but if that final battle becomes too frustrating, I'll get upset...

I advice against installing the mod without having played the original ToB first.
It is a good mod but I think it is better for you to finish the game as it is supposed to be finished the first time.
The choice is yours however.

In my opinion the only reason not to install it is because you want to see how much of an improvement it is over the original final battle. It makes the final battle a real battle (well series of battles), rather than "hmmmm how many greater whirlwinds do I have?" It also gives you some other features, which are very nice. All in all, it's a great mod (and, with the latest version, bug free)

There are actually two distributions of Ascension, the "classic" edition and the new WeiDU edition. They are functionally identical, but the WeiDU version has the distinct advantages of being cleanly uninstallable, and much more compatible with other mods:
