I've recently bought a new Sony DVD surround sound system (nice) but it's causing me a bit of grief. I chucked in a dvd of 'The Crow' which, judging by the general presentation, was first released on dvd when the movie first came out. It's got the correct region code for Australasia but it plays about 50% faster than it should. The sound comes out at normal speed, but doesn't sync with the video.
I'm guessing this has something to do with newer DVD players operating at faster speeds and the old DVDs not having the correct programming to be played properly on newer systems. Am i right? There's no mention of this anywhere in the documentation and my dumbass friends just tell me that the disc is stuffed. Anyone had this happen before? Any ideas?

What's the model # of your Sony system? Its likely that somebody else has had this problem and if so, its likely that you'll find info on how to fix it if its fixable online somewhere.
An example: I once found information about something from a users comment on Amazon.com, where a person added helpful info with his opinion of the product he bought there.

Sorry about the delay, guys. The player is a DAV-DZ100 Sony Home Theatre System. The disc in question plays correctly on at least one other system (older). I got a friend to lend me his disc of 'The Crow' and my system recognized it as being the same disc and resumed play from the same spot. Still at a faster rate.
Everything tells me my guess is correct but i'm stumped on how to fix it.
