My good friend (and guild leader) plays on 56k with a very bad phone line. He manages, though he has some aggravating moments. He has managed to make it to lvl 57 so hes doing something right lol. I'm on hellscream (Thuvia) if you give it a try, though its a pretty crowded server i'd be more than happy to help.

Hey HT, I play on 56k half of the time at work. Zero problems usually (except when on huge raids latency goes to 800 : /). On dial up the connection bar is usually yellow or red but really you see little difference, I'm always in sync with everyone else when using it.
Hey Ziroc, I was considering switching from PvE to RP. Hopefully they will have transfer options soon that allow you to change to RP rather than just a different server of the same kind as they do at the moment. My reservations for not originally starting on an RP server was that people may be too hardcore about it and attack you for talking 'OOC'. Well, since PvE is basically devoid of RP I fall somewhere in the middle...I like to be able to talk OOC when I want to but like to RP when I want to. Basically what I'm asking is, what is an RP server on WoW actually like and will I have problems in the long run?

On my server (Europe - Earthern Ring) we are known for "winning the battle against the 'l33t dudes'. Lots of people don't roleplay, but there are some very strict roleplayers. Basically as long as you RP using /say then most people allow ooc chat on the general server. I'm in a very strict RP guild, and it's pretty fun.
Although the naked humans doing the macarana(sp?) in Stormwind is a bit strange at first, you get used to it [ 04-08-2005, 05:14 AM: Message edited by: Ivelliis ]

As another 56k'er, I'll chime in and say that if my connection to my ISP would stay, I'd rarely notice lag. In the large cities I'll sometimes have trouble, but it's tolerable.
Of course, I swear my ISP knows when I've just gone underwater for a disconnect lol. I've drowned way too many times because of that. |

I am playing with a 56k and the game runs great. However, you won't be able to particpate in massive raids against cities for PvP.
