testing Lighning Strike

I want to start a 5 person party with 4 sams and a bish. to test lightning strike. I'm thinking a Mook Sam, low piety high senses, dwarf sam, 50 piety low senses, felpur Sam, high speed low piety, Human Sam 60 dex, Sp, and balanced after that. My theory is the more balanced the Sam and correct wieght distrabution the more LS I should get. But should I have another Human sam and have him in blue and the other in white for wieght. Let me no if anyone has an idea of how to manage them. I will also keep track of Crits but that may be less telling depending on weaponry. Has this been done before?

I'm sure Piety has nothing to do with Lightning Strike. Weapons choice does, so you'll be stuck on fairly mundane weapons unless you want to edit in a couple extra Muramasas or Bushidos.

Yes, 4 sams will be difficult to do without good weapons. But it will be a good proving ground for testing lightning strike. It is still unknown what makes it work. It you do this party, make the members different loads and maybe diff stats like senses or dexterity to see what happens. Let us know!

This is what I started with.

At level 6 the felpurr leads the way with 7 LS. followed by the Hobbit w/ 6, Human 4, Dwarf and Lizard with 3. I only got 3 LS. before level 4 from all and then they started kicking in. The felpurr got 3 in one fight and 2 in onother. Also the felpurr has the best sword skill followed by the Hobbit. They have the best dex, spd. and Sword skill, and lead the way. But it's a long game. only two crits so far.

My party of 3 dracon Sams. are now lvl 17. I havn't been paying attn. to the lgtng strk or crits so I don't know. I been bumping up there magic almost exclusively. I did the temple at lvl 15 and picked up Fang. I also have Bush Bl and Bl Lst at the moment. The offhand Weap depends on how it affects the primary whether I use it or not.

This confirms my hunch that Felpurs make the best Sams.

The Sams make better mages than Fighters from what I can see.

Hold the phone. At 9th level the dwarf, and human have 13 LS and the felpurr 14, the Hobbit 15. It looks as though inicitive (sp??) may be the important part here. When I gave bloodlust to the dwarf he started catching up to the others. The hobbit has the best ini. followed by the Human then Felpurr. I gave a No-Dachi -4 ini to the felpurr and Lizardman. the felpurr slowed down until his speed got to 85 then he picked back up. The lizard man has the lowest ini. and only has 8 LS far below the rest. I thought of giving everyone No-Dachis to hav a good comparison
but I am in Trynton now and cant get any for a while. All wieght has been in the white. I will change to blue for some when I get a clear picture. Only 14 crits so far.

I just ran a Solo Liz through enough of Wiz-7 to be able to pump all the skills by class rotation, and after a few tests, i ended up importing as a Mage, giving the following:

Str 62 Int 66 Pie 29 Vit 71 Dex 60 Spd 51 Sen 31

Using the 13000 XP for another Mage level and then switching to Sam, i am now L5, with the following:

62 78 29 71 68 55 31 (that's right, i'm gonna be a Lizzy Powercasting Samurai)
Anyway, my Lightning Strikes so far:

Bats, Lower Monastery in the corner with the Darts and hidden Bow 4 swings

King Crab 4 swings

Rats in box room, Upper Monastery 4 swings

2 on the 2nd of 2 Seekers guarding the Lightning Rod chest. One 4 and one 5 swings, interrupted by Seeker's running out of HP.

Carry is 59 out of 234. I have on a Flak Vest (import) and Leather Legging, fighting with Enchanted Katana (import) and plain Wak.

So maybe Sen isn't so important vis-a-vis LS.

I think someone on the VN Boards did some testing and agreed with you that low Senses meant you had more chance of a LS.
