Okay, so my computer crashed and I had to reinstall windows, every program that ever existed on it and so on, including the Morrowind savefiles. Is there any way to restore the files or cheat my character up to its former levels because I really, truely have no interest in playing it all over again...

You can use the console to set stats/levels. In fact, it's pretty much the same command.

Use the ~ to active the console, then type:

player->SetLevel 40

or

player->SetEndurance 80

(same for skills)

I understand that if you do use the cheat to change your level, you need to save and reload for it to take effect.

It seems to me that if you do this cheat, it would be really hard to get your attributes/skills balanced out. And I don't know of any way to give you back your faction standings.

to raise combat skills w/ weapons take a daedric bound item and cast it and then rapidly switch items a lot and then you should raise your skill permanently in that area.

I thought that only worked with the versions where you could actually "drop" the bound item in question?
