Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeeee tell me how to use pictures downloaded as portraits

After you downloaded them, go to your BG2-file, and open the portrait folder. Then you just put both of your versions of the pic in there (the little and the big). Now restart the comp, and you should be able to use 'em.
NB! The pics must be .bmp!
