Can a bard or rogue learn lock pick skill by practicing on a tumbler lock (such as the back vault below ground)?

I just did a good job of upping earth magic skill for some of my characters using knock-knock there (thanks to a tip from someone else here) -- but I could not seem to get any reaction from my bard trying the tumblers.

Her skill level is about 65 -- maybe I did not try long enough, but I tried much longer than it took to get a point added to my mage's 60 point earth skill.

If you play with a lock long enough the skill will go up. But it takes a lot of clicking. Probably the best way is to go into the tunnel in teh jail to the bank vault. You can click on that forever and not open it. However, if your bard has a lock pick of 65 you're in pretty good shape. (You can equip the theives buckler just for lock picking and get another 10%.)

Thanks for the response. I can usually get a point or two of skill from each trapped chest fairly easily -- but gave up getting anything from the bank vault door.

(she is about 65 with the thieves buckler, which I just keep equipped all the time.
