i finally got a savegame with excaliber in the davy jones locker chest. (hurray!). i also saved up right before the buccaneer ghosts, so i can have them drop a lightsword, before i go pick up excaliber.

the problem is, i have spent the whole morning killing buccaneer ghost, but none of them dropped a light sword. i can confirm that they do drop light shields though.

i have another savegame where they dropped a lightsword quite fast, so i know they do drop them.

just wondering: i use a couple of level 7 banish to finish them off quickly. will this have an effect on the probability rate of them dropping light swords?

i killed over 1000 buccaneer ghosts already this morning, i think.
crazy.

if i have to pick between the light sword and excaliber, i think i would go for the light sword though, because my fighter then can use that nice light shield to go with it .. whereas excaliber is two-handed. anywayz ..

i have been killing those buccaneer ghosts for hours and i am getting fed up with it, not to mention i need to get some food ..

if someone has both the lightsword (from the ghosts) and excaliber and can confirm, that would be great.

cheers,
lok

Great minds think alike. I'm getting books of detection and potions of razor cloak. Truly exciting treasure... The ghosts are easy to kill and present no danger to my party, but they still take a long time to kill.

seriously here, not to just be bitchy, but why dont you just CHEAT and make it faster for you. You're going to get the items you want eventually.

I just dont understand the save/reload mentality. But if you enjoy it do it and have fun!

I think it's because we are trying to play by the rules. There's nothing bad or wrong about reloading and retrying something if you don't like the outcome. And you have the benefit that if some bug happens to break your game, Sir-tech will still try to fix it whereas if you use an editor of any sort, you have hacked the code and Sir-tech won't support it any more. It's also sort of a "I'll beat this thing if it takes all day" attitude at times. Sure, it's counterproductive time-wise but it does wonders for improving your tenacity and sticktoitiveness. i think the difference here is 'the rules'. by doing a save/reload thing, you are still playing within the rules set, so i will not call that cheating. using an editor would be cheating.

and good news: i finally got the damn *light sword*. took me another couple of hours. but boy a sighed a big breath of relief when i saw it.

and since my mages started to hit level 18 shortly after, i have a bunch of new goodies to play with. fighter now got excalibur, samurai has the light sword until i find the muramasa blade, my ninja got the CoC, Vi has the stun rod, and my mages finally can cast those level 7 spells. ah, life is good.

not to mention i can finally get on with my wiz8 game ..
"now where was i ..."
