A funny thing happened to me on the way to Mt Gigas... (kind of spoilerish for middle game areas)

My latest band of intrepid adventurers decided to head out to the northern wilderness at level 8 just for kicks and then after deafeating the golem on the bridge proceded to have a chat with bela and pick up some nice items for sale.

But you know those trikee fairy ninjas always want to see what is around the corner decided to cajole me into having a "peek" behind a certain waterfall at the bottom of the mountain trail.

Well after much running past tougher Golems and into waterfall caves with said golem behind I grabbed all the goodies in there and used them for my battle with Mr Stone who was right behind me. I just won that battle and thought, "Well I am a LITTLE out of my depth here at level 9 so I guess I better head back"

One problem.

The mountain trail was now camped out by not 1 but 4 flying serpents (the HUGE kind) and 3 hot little Scorchers (level 26 no less).

Well I guess its not ging to be a quick little jaunt back to the Arnika raod for me so I pick my way across the map, past the rapax entrance and into the southern wilderness. Well after a few togh fights I find my self wondering if I'll ever make it back to Arnika, and staring at a pretty temple with horses outside.

"Well this looks nice" I tell my self "I wonder if they are freindly inside?" After a short jaw dropping moment and saying to myself how lovly all those fireballs look coming at me from the inhabitants its a hasty exit and down the road I came to finally find my self in a clearing...... well nothing here but some nasty little horsies that turned my "towering scaly fighter dude" into much turncoat material and proceded to beat on my fairies.

FUN all at level 10 by now.

After some backtracking and much avoiding of temples with nasty death lords I found a nice quiet road that lead me back to the swamp.... ah the swamp. Nice and easy, peaceful, quiet. I never thought I would be so happy to see that ugly mug of a face on old crock!

Alas my little indulgence in curiosity almost killed the cat (well it did a few times but hey thats what the load button is for ) but I was able to make my way back and look at some of the aras that I hadn't visited yet.

Although I was waaaaay under level for my little trip I managed to survive (barely) thru a lot of strategic fighting and a little luck ( had one samurai swallowed 3 times in one fight and still live thru it!)

I love this game. Where a hopeless situation looked bad, a little persaverance and a little of the explorer in me made it one of my most enjoyable nights, as my only hope of surviving was dodging the monsters that were 15 levels higher than me and taking on the critters that were only 10 or so levels higher. Great Stuff!
