Stuck in Trynton

I'm in Trynton. I've talked to Madras and gotten the quest to kill the ratt breeders. I've been into the fourth and fifth boughs, but can't proceed beyond here.

In the fourth bough, I've been into all the room, killed those nasty Oak Saplings (by running into the no magic area and killing them there). Now, in the central area, there is a tree with four openings. I don't know what to put in there. There's a sign that points up that says seventh bough, but I don't know how to go up.

In the fifth bough, I've come to a broken bridge and I can't repair it.

I've picked up an assortment of stuff: 2 short vines, a yellow flower, a blue marble that opened the city, and silver sphere, that I guess I use back at the Arnika spaceport.

Can anybody tell me how to proceed from here?

Go back to the sanctuary (near Fuzzfaz's Potion Palace.) Click on each of the vine-covered columns at the back of the palace to get two gouda vines. Merge these together in your character's inventory window to get a gouda rope. Now go back to the broken bridge, and use the rope on the bridge to repair it.

Cross the bridge and you'll be in the Rattkin Tree.
