The Wizardry 8 website still has not been updated, and it's beginning to bother me. The last update was April 27. I sent an e-mail to the webmaster of their site saying that it would be much appreciated if the site was updated once in awhile. Perhaps if several of us were to send e-mails we might get results.....? Anyway, I'm gonna keep checking the site in hopes of an update. If there still isn't anything in the next week or so I'm going to send another e-mail and continue to do so until they finally update the site. What one must do to get news of another epic.............

I agree, sometimes one can wait *too* long on something.
You start to wonder if it will arrive at all. I understand some of you have been waiting for 8 years, well, that's a tad too long for me ![]() If Wizardry doesn't see daylight within the next month or 2 I will probably loose interest. I don't think sending an email will help though. They know that they must keep the fans interested and for some reason they're choosing not to do so. Perhaps it's a very simple explanation: There is no news. I mean, they already said the game is entirely finished. That means finished testing and hunting down bugs. All that is left is a publisher. That's it. The only news worth mentioning is "Hey, we found this and that publisher" or "Hey, we found a publisher and within a week we can tell you who they are". Updating the site with: "we still don't have a publisher" every week gets old too I guess ![]() But I can't imagine that a game with a reputation like that, totaly finished and with a solid fanbase won't get released. It's just a question of when it will happen. Let's hope it will be very very soon indeed ![]() Snoekie ------------------ ![]() |

Amazon lists the publisher as "Interplay". What what what? What's that all about?

I was really looking forwnrd to this game, I heard about it a year ago and it seems like it would be just a short time for it to come out. Well, here I am a year later wondering what happened. Why cant this game find a publisher? The only logical reason I can come up with now is that the game must be terrible. Now I dont want to think this because I have been playing Wizardry right from the Proving Grounds all the way to Crusaders... but it is the only logical thought. Why would no publishers want to touch this game? There have been alot of terrible games, yet someone always stepped up to publish them. Why is the Wizardry team having such a problem?
I have a feeling that this game could arrive not in the new release section but right in the bargin bin ending the Wizardry series. ![]() |

What I read on the Wiz 8 website (which may or may not be truthful since they want to sell copies of the game) is that the reason they have taken so much time finding a publisher is that they want to be sure that the game gets released and marketed properly. And also, I don't believe that Wiz 8 will be the last. Wiz 9 is already in production (according to Sir-Tech Canada, it is also on the website) and Wiz 10 is in planning or will be shortly. I really can't see how a Wizardry game could be a bad game, especially with all of the new things that have been added. And also, there is a comment section on the site from their beta testers and they all seem to say that this is an excellent game. My personal feelings in this matter are that Sir-Tech is simply neglecting their site, and for all we know, they may have a publisher by now. I just want news regarding this, that's all. I hope we get some soon.

I hear what you are saying Jafin but how could a game that we have been hearing is finished since December not have been able to find a publisher? I really cant understand that. I agree Sir-Tech should update their site so we know what is going on but the longer they leave that the more pessimistic I and others get.
I guess what I would really like to know is why will no publisher touch this game? There must be a reason. Are Sir-Techs demands to high? or is the game not worth touching? or a combination? or some other reason. This game has been in development since 1998 and they have not been able to secure a publisher... This seems awfully strange to me. Again though with all the other titles coming out now - bg2tob, d2expansion, nwn, torn etc... is anyone but the people who follow Wizardry going to buy it? If this game gets lost amognst those others will any publisher touch another? |

From what I've been able to gather, ogopogo, is that Sir-Tech didn't even begin looking for a publisher until it was near completion, so that they wouldn't be rushed or had the game interfered with by an outside party (I don't know if you played W&W but that game is full of glitches, and probably because Activision forced it out the door). I really don't think that Wiz 8 would get lost in all of the new games coming out. Wizardry has been around since the early 1980's and has hung on strong, and the various different volumes are still being bought. To me, and many people may think this an interesting remark, it really doesn't matter how well Wizardry 8 sells, just as long as those who really want to enjoy this game get the chance. And hopefully, it will sell well enough to warrant more Wizardry's to be produced.
Wiz 8 wasn't done being tested until fairly recently, since several updates were added to the game relatively recently (February and March). I just want this game to come out. The waiting is killing me!!! Wish me luck in retaining my sanity during all of this waiting! -Jafin |

I don't think the game is terrible, Ogopogo. A very experienced gamer I know from CIS Gamers' Forum was one of the Beta testers, must have been November last year, and she was absolutely thrilled with the game.
The only thing I'm afraid of is Sirtech running out of funding before they've found a publisher. Traute |
