the toad in the puddle is a secret agent for scabban. his purpose is to give the students of scabban enough time to render all toads maniacal and take over the gael serran. he is promised a reward of being "toad of the shire" but none of the other toads suspect his participation in this vile plot. if you try to push him out of the puddle he opens a secret trap door that your party is stuck in unless they have a call of home or teleport spell.
the only true solution is to eliminate this miscreant toad as quickly and quietly as possible. he can have no chance to cry out, or the toad populace will think you have betrayed them. the toads as a whole are weak minded and that is why they were chosen for this evil plan. |

And Anephas is really the Apprentice to Cet, he justs wants to reign over all the Gael Serran. That's why he convinces you to kill Cet.
