What's next?

Now, that I'm in the crypt, I can't tell what's next. I know there's a key underwater but I can't get to it. I also don't know what to do about the statue that faces the closed gate. Please help me! Thanx!

Okay, have you talked to the Ratkeeper? If you gave him the ratpie from his brother, he should mention that there's a hidden chamber above a certain tomb, and also mention something about a crystal and a bauble stick. The key you can't get yet, that's much later.

Find the bauble stick in a chest in the room next to the ratkeeper, then "Use" it at the underwater grating to get the crystal. You can then go back upstairs and use the crystal to "call" the elevator on the north wall of the big circular room. Upstairs is a mummy with something that will help you get past the closed gate.
