I need help, please please

I have a huge problem, and I'm so discouraged.. First of all, in my game, I've been saving on one file the whole entire time.. so I don't have a saved file I can load that will take me back to any point in the past in my game.

Anyways, here's my problem- I believe I'm on chapter 5.. I've flooded the mines.. however I don't have access to Baldur's Gate, and apparently I'm supposed to after I flood the mines. For the longest time, I didn't realize this.. so I explored every nook and cranny of every map and the story just wasn't progressing.. so after reading a well-written walkthrough I discovered that before you flood the mines, you're supposed to set off a trigger near an elevator or something, but if you're wearing boots of speed sometimes it doesn't work.. I was wearing boots of speed, it never triggered, I flooded the mines, and saved over it.. I've looked everywhere for hacks to set off that trigger, but maybe that's the wrong approach.. could someone -please- help me if they know how? I have so much game time invested and it's really such a great game and I want to progress with the story.. thanks..

The only thing I can think of to help you, is downloading a save game from the net. You can find a few for every chapter at:

Now, of course you want to play with your character, so make sure you place the downloaded save game into the MPSave folder. Export your character from your own savegame and then import it into the downloaded save. I assume you play Single Player now? Well, you should check if all NPC's are still available to you. Otherwise you can summon some of them with cheats. About the items you had: you can also get them back using cheats.

You can tell which chapter you're in by looking at your journal.

This may be a silly question, but have you walked on to the bridge into BG and spoken to Scar? You should be able to walk onto it even if you're locked out of BG itself, but after the mines the centre section comes down and you can chat to the FF honcho.

Otherwise....next time make sure to have a couple of Savegame files...

Hey dude. What you say doesnt make sense because I've read the walktrough that says this and it says : The trigger can refuse to go off when u are wearing the boots of speed ALONG WITH A HASTE SPELL (OR OIL OF SPEED). I think Opus is right, yopu should speak to Scar.

BTW, where the hell have u been Opus ???? I havent seen you (and your Dopus, remember ?) for like a month. Well, good to know your still alive.

I think that with the hotkey for quicksave and the autosave, it´s harder to have only one savegame than having two...

Anyway, it should be like they say, cause I always wear boots of speed in the mines and it has always worked fine (over 6 times). It must be the oil of speed or haste spell. Luck.

If you've killed the mage(cant remember the name)
don't flood the mines to soon you have to wait for the next chapter before you go and flood the mines or you have to talk to the otyher mage which asks for your mercie i believe
