Dual-class, how does that work? I thought that you can't get better at the first class once you start a new class, but Jaheira gets better all the time? So how does it work then?

When you dual-class (for example in 9 level from Fighter to Mage) than you wont be able to use your Fighter skills till you dont have 9 level Mage. After it you will gain both, and your exps. will deal to both classes (like with Multi-Class char.)

No, once you dual-class, you won't get any experience for your first class, ever again. Your abilities will come back after your second class reaches one level higher, but they won't get better.
Jaheira gets XP for both her classes because she's multiclass, which means you start with 2 (or 3) classes at the beginning, among which your XP will be split. |

Ok:
There are two classes: DUAL-CLASS: This is where you start out as a certain class.(IE THEIF). When you get to level 4, you decide you want to be a MAGE. You DUAL CLASS. From this point on, all your EXP goes to your MAGE levels, and never your THEIF levels. You will stay level4 theif for ever. You lose your theif abilities, until your new class (MAGE) has an equal level to that of your first class (4). So when you get to level 4 MAGE, you will be a THEIF/MAGE Level 4. But from then on, only your MAGE levels row. MULTI-CLASS Can only be done from the start of the game, unlike DUAL which can be done DURING the game. It just means you can pick 2/3 classes to be from the start, and the EXP gets split between them all equally. Better?

Sorry, i was wrong with my previous statement. You really cant get more exps when you dual to another class.

actually, you wont get your 4th level thief spells until you reach 5TH level mage. you need to be one level higher than your previous in your previous class. hope this helps.

Another key difference:
DUAL CLASS characters are always HUMAN. MULTI-CLASS characters are always DEMI-HUMAN.
