Illasera The Quick

Leslie and his friends were pulled into adventuring again. The Bhaal essence in Leslie's soul took him in another dangerous story. He listened to the talking stone heads and discovered that there is some prophecy involving him as a main character. But Jan interrupted Leslie's thinking. He sensed someone approaching. Basic protectios were put on, Jan set 3 of his normal traps (I didn't rest after the Jonny boy's fight - underestimated Illasera!) and Leslie summoned a Planetar and a Skeleton Warrior.

A group of mages and fighters appeared out of the woods and they were led by a woman named Illasera. She mentioned the Children of Bhaal and that she is one of them. And she wanted to prove that she is stronger than Leslie! We had to prove her wrong.

Haer, Leslie and Jan used PFMW and Keldorn used True Sight. Jan's traps killed the mage and injured the nearby fighter. Illasera went ethereal and couldn't be seen even with true sight. So Haer, Keldorn and Planetar took care of the cleric and the fighters in the mean time. Illasera finally appeared again the party went after her. Luckily she started hitting Planetar first, so Haer and Keldorn could hit her. But Planetar quickly died after her masterful hits with a bow. Haer's PFMW wore off and he had no more of them memorized. He kept attacking her with Offensive Spin but Illasera changed her attacks to Keldorn. Her damage was insane. Her hit damaged Keldorn for 50+24 damage (I don't know what the second number stands for?) and he died in half a round unable to escape. Illasera then attacked Haer and before he could do anything he was dead too. Her arrows dispel and prevent further spell casting. Horrible!

This was time for serious action. Leslie used his last combo of TS + IA + hell and that finished Illasera for good.

(a lesson for me: do not underestimate fights in TOB on "insane"!)

And then Leslie and his friends were pulled into some other Plane of existance.

New friends and the Retribution

A Solar appeared in the Pocket Plane and spoke of Alaundo's Prophecy. Something involving the Children of Bhaal and their essence. And then Sarevok stood before the party again! He was looking for the essence for the exchange - he could open the door leading to Leslie's first test in the Pocket Plane. Leslie agreed and Sarevok was alive again! He offered his services but Leslie was not ready for that yet.

The magic in this pocket plane could bring new adventurers to our group and Jan, Keldorn, Haer and Leslie decided to take Aerie (cleric/mage) and Valygar (stalker) as their new companions. They were equipped with magical items from our Bag of Holding and their spells were arranged. Then we rested and boldly went upstairs to confront with our first challenge.

This was Retribution time and many enemies had to be killed. Leslie summoned a Planetar and he and Haer were doing the fights mano-a-mano while Keldorn and Valygar attacked from range. After the fight everyone got XP and Leslie got his new ability to enter the Pocket Plane.

Oh, and we meet a funny Imp named Cespenar who already made some very useful items for us.

Great story wirting. Didn`t you say that you will not take NPC`s? Or I have a memory of a fish?

Aerie can be godly powerful when used right.

BTW why did you choose Valygar over other fighters?

Which (good) fighters did you have in mind, Xen?

I cannot take Jaheira. Remember what Six mentioned: Spirit of Fate cannot bring back dead people.

So no Jaheira, no Anomen, no Mazzy.

So they weren't part of the list? Just a question of technicality.

I am thinking even if you were able to bring them back it would just remove the RPG essence, not to mention the NRL essence of it right?

I would take Jaheira and Anomen if I could.

This Spirit of Fate is a little fish if he cannot bring back dead people. Surely he can get in touch with their soul and do it somehow.

Gromnir Il-Khan and the story of Saradush

Leslie and his friends left the Pocket Plane and the only place to go was Saradush. It was under heavy attack from giants and our party teleported just in time to prevent the soldiers of Gromnir who were about to attack the innocent peasants.

There they met Melissan who seemed to know a lot about Leslie and current situation. Hmm, very interesting ...

The party explored the town, found a lost spell book, saved an innocent prisoner, killed the bad guy who set him up, helped some elves and found a way to the old prison after a long day in town.

Prison was full of vampires which didn't pose any real threat and Leslie also helped an old ghost find his eternal peace and in exchange got a nice ioun stone. Cespenar upgraded it to a really nice one.

The exit from prison led the party to the cellar area which was full of Gromnir's soldiers. The fighters were not a problem but the one pretty high level mage managed to cast ADHW and Valygar who was already injured died. A couple of rounds later he was back in full health with the party again. The cellar area was cleared and the party rested before advancing upstairs.

Leslie's PI protected everyone from Magical energy and Fear, and the usual PfEvil, Stoneskin, Chaotic Commands and Haste were cast. As expected the first group of Gromnir bodyguards were waiting on the first floor. Valygar gulped a potion of invisibilty and moved behind the annoying archer guy, while Haer attacked the nearest fighter, Keldorn moved close to the mage, and Leslie moved a couple of steps away before casting Time stop. The mage's CC contained ADHW but everyone was protected and he and Leslie both started casting Time stop almost at the same time. But Leslie had a "slight" advantage with Robe of Vecna and Amulet of Power.

Only one guy was left standing after the hell in Time stop and was quickly sent after his friends. Since all the spells and protections were still on, Leslie and his party moved upstairs to the seconds floor. They witnessed how Gromnir found out about Melissan's plans and he was in no mood to talk.

OK, let's finish this, thought Leslie to himself while casting Time stop again. Keldorn again moved closed to Karun the Black who disapeared in the cloud of spells, Haer attacked Gromnir mano-a-mano, Valygar gulped another invisibility potion and moved behind Berena Elkan and backstabbed her with Celestial Fury. Jan shot his Spell Sequencer at Berena and her group which consisted of Greater Malison, Emotion and Slow.

Time stopped and Leslie sent the usual hell spells flying around. While in Time stop two new enemies showed up; Lashar'ra and her boyfriend. Leslie sent a couple of ADHW's in their direction too. Then he move a little away and waited to see the results. They were pretty devastating. Only Gromnir (badly injured) and Karun were still fighting, the rest were dead or unconscious. Summoned Planetar casted Insect Plague at Gromnir and they spread to Karun which was the plan of course. Gromnir panicked and ran around the place while the party was hacking him to pieces. Oh, and Karun had no chance fighting insects and Keldorn with Carso.

When Gromnir died Melissan apeared (HMMM?) from nowhere and explained that the only way to save Saradush is to kill Yaga Shura. And the only way to kill him is find his heart somewhere in the mountains.
