Ok, so me and Mystique and Greasel were talking, and we decided to make a MP game through SoA, hopefully all the way -> ToB. Me and Myst had mods and stuff, and we reinstalled, so now we have SoA, ToB, Patch, Fixpack. Me and Myst can't host, we have routers and firewalls, but i changed the port allowances anyway. Myst couldn't connect to me, so we tried to connect to Greasel, who also has no mods. We all have the same FPS, Chache and everything, but we still can't connect to each other. What's up with our games?

I am not sure about a tech solution, but I will point out that you'll need the same combination of mods (probably in the same order) to play.

Well, do you all have the same patches etc. installed? The game versions have to be exactly the same. But basically, it sounds like it is a problem with your routers. However Greasel should be able if he doesn't have a router. Have you tried with your firewalls off? Also, you said you configured the ports, did you mean on your software firewall, or on your hardware firewall?

Me and TGTF reinstalled both our games from scratch, so we didnt have any mods. Greasel said he didnt have it either.

As mystique said, (allow me to go into mroe detail) We both re-installed completly, and set up our configs so they were EXATLY the same. And i have disabled my firewall, and alloud my router to let the BG2 ports through to my computer, but he still couldn't connect to me. So it's nothing to do with firewalls, or routers, or game versions. We honastly are completly stuck.

ok, where do you run into the problem..

Do you get into the joining MP game screen?

Are you connecting over gamespy, or are you doing an IP connect?

If your doing an IP connect make sure you've entered it correctly and make sure it's still the same as when you started this little adventure..

Might try uninstalling the fixpack,

Straight to the IP. We run into the problem, upon joining, it tells us 'cannot join to multiplayer session' so we're not sure. We ARE sure however, that the I.P is correct, or atleast, i'm sure i was getting it right.

You can test your IPs with a ping. Just open a DOS console and enter "ping The_IP_Number_You_want_to_connect_to". If you get just time-out messages it´s not your game - your PCs are principally unable to connect because of e.g network or firewall issues. It´s an easy method to single out the source of network problems. If you run Win NT, 2000, XP or 2003 you can use the tracert command instead of ping - it gives back other informations eventually useful. The syntax is "tracert The_IP_Number_You_want_to_connect_to". More options for these commands are available via "ping /?" and "tracert /?".

Is one of you trying to host? You can't all join. One player has to host and create a game name, then the other two join that game.
