When the apprentices make me stuff in the PS, if I cast luck will it increase their survival rate???

No, there survival can be determined by what they say, though.
SPOILER ON HOW TO TELL IF THEY WILL SURVIVE ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ If they say come back in 'a few days,' then they will survive. Creating some of the more powerful items is more dangerous too.
