For some weird reason whenever I try to play BG the only options I get is install, view readme, exit etc. I dont get the play option. I think I deleted something in the registry by accident. Could that be it?

I would suggest going to Add/Remove Programs in the CTRL Panel, and removing the BG stuff, then try re-installing. It sounds like you took something essential to the start-up of the game out, and need to reset it all.

Unless you know the exact file and which .CAB file it is located on the CD or if you know the registry string that you deleted try to find out what it could have been...but those are a long shot it looks like the only way is to re-install

Yeah I eventually reinstalled. I couldnt find out what was wrong.
