Cult of the eyeless question (Spoilers)

greetings to all this is my first post. I have been playing bg2 for a while and enjoying it however I have run into a problem that has me stumped.

in the cult of the eyeless quest in the temple district of athkala. I talked to the representative of the cult who gave me the key to the deep dungeon. I talked to the disenchanted members of the cult and agreed to retrieve the artifact from the dungeon and help them kill the beholder. I went through the small dungeon (which had three tough eye monsters in it) and found the temple with the diseased ones and the psichic manifestation inside.
now I don't know what to do. I can't kill the beast, the item is not in the alter, the diseased ones are not carrying anything and I am completely stumped.

Empathic Manifestation is a tough one, until you know what hurts him and what dosent. In this particular ase, you need to use healing spells on him. There are some priest scrolls in the alter, otherwise any method of healing should work. Restoration spells wont work, nor will resurrection. It has to restore hitpoints before it will be effective.

You must heal the Empathic Manifestation to temporarily 'kill it'. The Avatar of the Temple will then appear.

heh heh. I tried casting "heal" on him with no effect, I guess cure light would have been better.

no, heal should work just as well, if not better. try beating him to near death, and then cast your healing spells.

1 single Cure Light Wounds will totally kill the Empathic Manefestation, without laying another hand on it.

You need to heal him by 3 HP, assuming you dont otherwise attack him. Heal *should* work, but Ive had trouble with it myself. Cure light should be OK. Read the scrolls your given, saves burning your own memorised spells.
