I was able to open the page.

I checked on listings of recognized charities and was unable to find proof of its legitamacy.

Can you provide evidence that this charity is recognized as legit and that all proceeds do in fact go towards real help and not in the pockets of their administration? (Since I failed to find them on Give.org and the BBB listing of any charity based in NY)

Other than the founder and main instigator Scott Harrison is a personal friend? No.
Other than the board of directors (Giancarlo Ochoa and Brant Cryder et al) are all personal friends who donate their time? No.

Scott doesn't make a lot of money.
He left high-paying Manhattan marketing jobs after he realised he was wasting his life hedonisticly.
He spends most of his time working with the mercy ships:

Thanks. Of course, being careful today in the age of great scam artists makes one like me need to see a company's proof of legitamacy before-hand on such websites as the Better Business Bureau and other sites that help us protect our money and give it to real causes that benefit those that we aim to benefit. I have been led to believe that anybody not registered on BBB is hiding something, but that might not be true in every case.

No disrespect was intended to you or your friends, and you have already answered my second question as to why this charity had your interest above all others.

I wish them well in their honest efforts.

Thanks Larry. I sent an email lik to give.org and suggested he register with them if he hasn't already.

I agree with the need for care in finding legitimacy. No disrespect taken.

I updated my website with a link using his quote. What do you think?

I think your overall site looks a heck of a lot better than it used to years ago! Nice work!

Yeah, I like the quote in there, too.
But quality is to be expected from you.

Hey Larry, here's Scotts reply:
Quote:
Hey hugh.
Yeah, we can register with give.org in about 6 months when we get 501c3 status. First year sucks for a non-profit. You have to prepare file for your exemption (a 55 page document), then the IRS sits on it... In the meantime, we've been lucky to get CCC's help with major gifts, and keep plugging along.

and 100 percent of all water money goes directly to 4 top rated NPO's we selected through our partnership with charity navigator.
thanks bro
Scott
