Hey guys, I think I may have a really nasty virus on my hands. I'm running spybot and Norton as I type. I can't access Windows Explorer, which means I can't access my documents or anything, and it's really bugging me. IE was giving me some problems for awhile, so I quickly downloaded Firefox and just neglected it, bad choice, yeah. Whenever I try to go into Control Panel, My Computer, My Documents, etc, my computer freezes up. I was hoping someone out there in IW could give me a hand?

What version of windows are you running?
What where you doing when this happened? and so on, also it would be a good idea to dissconnect your computer from any networks it's connected to if you think it's infected with somthing nasty.. Have you tryed Ctr+Alt+Del and checked for any new or odd processes, or the lack of the explorer or other processes?

Windows XP, Trying to look into my documents for a file, and yes I have done CtrlAltDel and checked for processes I am unfamiliar with, haven't found any.

Reboot in safe mode and see if you can use Explorer. To access SAFE mode pres F8 when your computer is starting up.

![]() ![]() Anyway, you can still access your documents via the command prompt. Just press windows button +r then type cmd. As I'm sure you know. You can launch any application by cd-ing to its folder and typing the name of the executable. [ 03-03-2005, 09:25 PM: Message edited by: Vaskez ]

Get a copy of HiJack This and see what it finds. You can google for it, download it from Merijn, or send me a PM and I'll email you a copy.
You may also want to move back to a prior restore point (you do make them regularly, don't you?).

In safe mode run a vius scan and a adaware/spybot scan. Reboot and see how you go. If your still having problems go to Start>Run> type in MSCONFIG. Check the startup tab for anything weird looking
