I'm starting BG2 necessary now and i need some aid. I want to know:
To do a main caracter, which is better: the Mage or the Sorceress? (It only can be one of these two) And also, i would like to know if it is better to specialize in something... Tkx a lot, i hope that somebody that understands on the subject can help me. |

Well both the mage and the sorceress have good and bad points. The sorcerer can only choose up to 6 spells per level (I think), but can cast more a day than the mage and need not memorise. The mage can scribe every spell in the game into their book (with enough intelligence) but can only cast a certain number per day and must rest to memorise them once cast. If you're playing a sorcerer you really need to know what spells you will need because once you choose one you can't change it if you find out it is not as useful as another. I personally like mages better, because I like to be able to use all spells and in some levels there are more than 6 spells I use regularly, but that's just MHO
I assume by specialise you mean is it better to be a specialist mage, and I think it is. You get an extra spell per level to cast, which is very helpful. However once again you need to be careful which specialist you choose - what is important is that the opposing school's spells, eg if you are a conjuror, your opposing school is divinity, cannot be cast by you. So make sure that you don't choose a specialist whose opposing school has really important spells, for example abjuration has a lot of very crucial spells.

Why is a mage or a sorceress the best...
humm it is best if you wanna do a "easy" game. You can choose what you want, you can take in characters in the game that fits just the char you have choosen. All i say is that alla character is good. It is HOW you use them that differs. ![]()

I'd recommend the Sorc, but it takes a lot of strategy to figure out what spells you really should pick for them when they make levels: a wrong choice is very...unpleasant. You may want to look at this: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BG2/au...%2FBG2SR%2Ehtm
The guy who made that is a serious player of magic users; and while I can argue a bit on some points, the strength of his strategy and the accuracy of his observations can't be denied. |
