Question Mark

No visual medium could correctly capture Lovecraft's style of fantasy horror, at least not in any sense that will give you the same "creeps" you get from his writing. That is the power of one's imagination, don't you know.

I do think you are correct, but there have been a few movies over the years that have managed to creep me out.....would love to see a high budget movie based on Lovecraft

Edit: One that used subsonic sounds to really get the audience goosed....I think it could really work in a good theatre with a good sound system.

Well MagiK.. i never knew you were a Lovecraft fan. I have read all of his work and have been a fan since a very young age. My favorite story has always been Shadow over Innsmouth but i also love At the Mountains of Madness and the Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward.

Dagon, of course plays a subtle but strong role in Shadow over Innsmouth. I have no idea what you are talkin about with the tv movie because i have never seen it nor heard that their was going to be a Dagon inspired movie.. but most of the Lovecraft inspired movies i have seen were garbage.

Except one. Re-Animator. It is more of a remake of the story but this movie rocks! Totally awesome and Bride of Re-Animator is a great movie to. If you have not seen Re-Animator you should check it out.. it scary as hell.

Mostly his books these days come in compilations. Just have a look at the book stores in your area and you will doubtless find some books containing any number of his short stories.. The Cthulhu mythos stories are the most famous ones. You should check him out GR. A lot of his work is excellent.

Well Djin, you didn't miss much in not seeing Dagon, I mean it was ok, but really not as good as the hype....and definately not as good as the book. I really Liked the Mountains of Madness
