Howdy Fellas,
I just bought NN, and needless to say I'm pretty frustrated. I beat icewind dale which was an awesome game and I've never played D&D paper edition so the learning curve in creating my characters was quite high. Now that NN is based on something called 3rd edition rules I can't make heads or tails out of what feats and special abilities are, how they relate to classes and races and whatnot. I haven't the slightest clue of how to build a decent character and what feats and abilities are good. Does anybody have any advice on how to build a character or better yet where I can learn exactly how 3rd edition works??? THANKS!

Hello - and wellcome
First of all : I never played 3rd edition myself, but I do play PnP a lot, so it wasn't too hard for me to figure out. But RTFM (Read The F... Manual) it helps, but even more important when creating/leveling up read the descriptions of the different skills/feats etc. They are not that hard to figure out. Remember that 3rd ed. is made "easier" to understand for non rpg'es (eg. AC starts at 0 and goes up and up) attack rolls also goes up (no more thac0). How to learn 3rd rules - buy 3rd ed Players Handbook (and maybe DMG) thats' all you need. GodSlayer |
