Is there any quick ways to level up? Well, other than the Vale of Shadows, but I seem to be going up slowley. Any other side quests??

Depending on who you have in your party, you can get to around third level with four characters on Hard or Insane difficulty without leaving Easthaven.
If you have a Bard (and they're good in this game) have that character talk to the fisherman that's daydreaming as well as the siren. This produces more points than resolving the issue normally. If you talk to the drunk, have someone like your Bard or a Mage speak to them, and you can talk the guy away from the booze. If you have a Druid, have them talk to the Ogre in Kuldahar Pass, and they'll suggest a cure for his headache (though this is one you can do if you talk to Arundel immediately again during your first meeting). Hope that helps. The other thing to do is have only one character until you get to Kuldahar, then import them into one game. Or edit them with Dalekeeper. Here are a couple more experience point opportunities that are easily missed:
SPOILERS * * * * * * * Easthaven: 1. Clear the beetles out of Grisella’s storeroom [the tavern] – 1200xp 2. After the Orc Cave - take the caravan contract to the Fishmonger’s house – 1200xp Kuldahar 1. Near the little bridge by Arundel’s house you can meet a townsperson who has some doubts about Ilmater Talk to him with a cleric or a paladin and ask him about the temple – you should then have a chance to convince him to worship Ilmater for 1200xp. 2. You can talk to this same man with a druid and convince him to worship nature for 1200xp. I believe you can actually do both of these right after the other for a total of 2400xp! NOTE - You can also change the difficulty setting on the game prior to doing some of these and that may result in higher experience point awards. |

Sir Goulum,
If I come to a point in the game where I expect to get lots of expo (e.g., returning a quest item), I may save the game and use "export character" techniques to run each character in the original party once through the reward sequence, three characters at a time, two at a time, or (if I am feeling extraordinarily greedy) even solo. This latter technique is one you could use to pump some expo into your characters: Just before an expo-laden event, drop the quest item (if there is one), save ("game 1"), and THEN kick all except one character (we are going the greedy route, here) out of your party. Then pick up quest item and run your one-character party through the quest reward sequence, save to a new game ("game 2"). Go back to your old saved game ("game 1"), kick out everyone except one character (different than the first), have her pick up quest item, and run her solo through the quest reward sequence. Save game ("game 3"). Repeat for other characters. Now, assuming your original party was 6 strong, you should have 6 single-character saved games, numbered "game 2" through "game 7." Open "game 2". Import the other 5 characters to reform your full party. Now each cahracter in your party has gotten six times (600%) of the experience from the quest that they normally would have gotten. You may now discard or overwrite "game 3" through "game 7". Another technique, for those a little reluctant to venture as far as I have into "the dark side" is to start out the character you are having problems with as a fighter. Level a bit and then switch to your desired class (I forget whether you can do this with bards). Maybe even solo to as high as level 9 or 13, then start new game and have fighter dual over to the desired class. Yet another idea is to import most of your party (or maybe just a select few) into a brand new game and run them through again, to beef up their experience. (This should be VERY easy for you, and is not considered "cheating" by most.) It is amazing what a few levels will do! I also use Dale Keeper; but only to correct character build mistakes, and to make it easier to do those things that I could do without DK. I hope some of these ideas have helped. Edited to correct instructions on how to solo characters through reward. [ 09-26-2002, 03:51 PM: Message edited by: NobleNick ] |

Spoilers
- - - - - - - - - - - Don't forget the innkeeper. You have to talk to the barmaid in the tavern first, then him. Question him but he won't give in. Then go upstairs and lockpick the ring. Take it back to him and he'll confess. Don't forget to take the gem from the yeti chieftain in the Vale back to the guy in front of the potter in Kulduhar. There's a boy hiding in a closet in the mill in Kulduhar pass also. After you kill the priestess in the Vale return to the bartender.(I don't remember if you'll get xp but you'll get some stuff!) Oh, and by the way, in Kulduhar, pickpocket, pickpocket, pickpocket! |

SPOILERS:
here are a few handy ways to really get some eary experience! Turn on heart of fury mode, and equip your party with lots of ranged weapons. do the inn cellar bug clearing quest. each bug killed will net 2000 or so exp, and the bugs cannot hurt you if you dont get close to them. may take a while though as they have very low Armour Class. after this go back to normal difficulty mode. other things that are useful: when you are about to complete a quest, remember to set the difficulty to insane, at insane level all monster kills and quests get double the EXP. Easthaven quests are: Inn bug's. Kill wolf in shop retrieve sword for fisherman. cure drunks alchoholism retrieve manifest from orc cavern deliver manifest to merchant kill goblins and retrieve fish head for kid. if done right, just the quests in town should be able to net you one possibly two level ups
