I try to go as long as possible without "sleeping".. usually the entire party is fatigued, etc, but i know of players who sleep after every couple of fights so they have all their spells fresh at all times. What is the "norm"? WHat are your sleeping habits?

A person i knew who was soling in BG2 slept after nearly every fight!
To me this seems unreasonable.
The idea i have is to try to complete quests as quickly as possible and i feel like if i sleep too much things will pass me by.

I try to go as long as possible between sleep - I will handle the easier areas even though I'm fatigued.

Whenever my party is fatigued I start thinking about where to sleep for the night. It's not like I do it instantaneously - if I have a relatively unchallenging adventure ahead then I'll just go ahead with it and worry about sleeping later. Only if there are important fights/quests coming up or I feel that the group really has gone too long without resting will I let them sleep.

I always try to rest when my spells are low, especially the healing spells. This means your party is much less likley to be wiped out if your luck turns bad, even in a low level area where danger is not expected.

Sleeping after every fight is indeed taking it a bit far (so they'll be on, what, Day 217 by the time they actually finish the game?), but not unreasonable for such things as a Solo Mage. A Mage doesn't have a THAC0 worth jack, so his only chance is to cast Magic Missile; If the enemy is dead, be happy and collect loot. If the enemy is still alive, run like hell, sleep and cast Magic Missile again the next day. They must use up a lot of NyQuil or something.....

Me, I tend to wait until my party is tired, then clear the rest of the map and maybe another full map before I sleep. Sometimes I'll drag them through the mud for a week at a stretch, and I never sleep before a march--always after. I sleep at inns when I get the chance, and I always get the nicest room available. False modesty does not become heroes, or villians, for that matter.

I will usualy let my party go as long as I find reasonable without sleep, this CAN mean sleeping after every fight if I am in a real bad area, but it can also mean going for a week without rest if I am just exploring some of those low level areas. As I said, it is all very dependent on the circumstances.
