how many times have you replayed the bg series?
do you change what you do?
how does knowing what's gonna happen affect your gameplay?

i'm on my 3rd full playthru. from bg1/tosc to bg2/tob, patched, strictly vanilla. no mods this time.

i find myself wandering around instead of being methodical, like the first 2 times. i go where i want and if i get somewhere that wasn't fun, i skip it.

overall, tho, my gameplay experience each time is the same, because i always fall back to being good and take on the same chars. this time i've got more mages in my party and that means i have to change my tactics. minsc can charge in, but everyone else hangs back and shoots spells and arrows.
it's different.
i'm not sure i enjoy it as much as bashing and smashing, tho.

and as far as alignment goes, i can't do evil. i mean, the evil-aligned chars say evil things, but battles don't change, plus it's difficult for me to say nasty things to people i meet. that's not evil to me. evil is a murderer wearing an ingratiating smile, saying all the proper things, then sticking a knife in questgivers backs so quests will never be resolved.

what about you?

V***V

ps: boo plushie

I have played many, many times. The only class I haven't finished completely was monk, and that's because it was too much like playing a fighter to hold my interest long enough to get the good abilities. I've also played mods, and created custom spells, creatures, and items to hold my interest. Naturally, they were all played on Insane after my first two runs.

a fair few times although i still haven't finished ToB for some reason

i also tend to run a lot of games on tracks as i do the same old thing and chase the same old equipment

solo games get abandoned when the character gets too powerful - a sub-category of this is that i often abandon high-level duals soon after the original class is re-activiated

party games get abandoned when the party-management gets too much

my most popular abandon point is after making the main plot boat trip or the dark bit afterwards - i think that's partly the mood of these areas and partly the timing as it's when the first two reasons tend to happen

other than trying different solos i find that ideas to make things interesting also make things more hassly so there's kinda faiure built into that idea

i abandoned an evil party game at the start of ToB when i realised that the boots of speed wouldn't work on Edwin . . .

not that i'm complaining like

ps: my current party is a basic party of 4/5 with my PC as a mage which has predictably increased the amount of magic i threw around - i also took Fade (a nicely done thief NPC) through SoA (she has no ToB content yet) which added some more newness and i replaced Fade with the ToB NPC dualled-to thief which gives me something to 'achieve'

i haven't played BG for a little while now (the party are bogged down a bit in Watcher's keep clearing the laboratories) - if i run true to form when i find some time to play i'll probably start a new character

anyway . . .

I replayed the series at least a dozen times, but finished it only two or three times. Somehow, i always end up playing a good guy (or at least neutral) as well.
Doing evil deeds is not to my liking in BG, but i do prefer the evil NPCs over the good ones. In each of my replays i usually picked different NPCs or a different number of them.
The main character usually was a sorcerer, though. I hate having to plan in advance which spells to use and there is no sorcerer NPC.

I started playing solo; completed it several times(Avenger, Fighter/ Thief,Archer). After that i went through the game with a complete good and evil npc party.
Right now i enjoy to play themed customized partys. Playing a thief only party atm(Swashi, Assassin, Thief/ Illusionist, Thief/ Cleric)and having a realy good time! Also i installed a few mods which increased the replay value of the game a lot(Tactics, ease of use etc).

Kind regards
