Is there a way to change your portrait in a saved single player Game?

Welcome, new user. The procedure is simple: You put your right foot in, you pull your right foot out, you put your right foot in and you shake it all about. Next, go to your character's "Record" screen (where you can see their stats) and say "Customize," and then "Appearance." Scroll among the standard pictures to your heart's content, or say "Custom," and see a list of all the bitmap files that are in your Baldur's Gate/Portraits directory. (If you don't HAVE a Portraits directory, you should probably make one.) Read through the older posts in this forum, there are a few good links to some nice picture sites here.

One thing though, custom portraits might require a reload of the game to show up. So don't panic once you end up with a "question mark guy".

What if the apearance button is shadowed out? How do I make it accessible?

I think what you were trying to say in your 1st question was, "Is there a way to change THE OTHER NPC'S portraits in a saved single player game?"
The answer is yes. For instance, I hate Coran's picture. So, I (finally) found a picture of a good-lookin' elven dude wearing armor, and placed those bitmap files in my Portraits directory, with the names CoranL.bmp and CoranS.bmp. This overrides the picture that Coran usually gets (which is butt-ugly). Too bad the new Coran's armor isn't green, though.....I usually give him the Ankheg Plate. ------------------ Boots of Stealth: 1125 gp Shadow Armor: 7875 gp Slipping an Oil of Firey Burning down the back of Sarevok's armor: Priceless |
