The underdark is a hive of villiny located under the city in the sewers. Go into the sewers and map everything and you should find underdark.

Actually a quick way is to just access the sewers from the marketplace. And by the way, it's Undercellar, not Underdark. You have to wait till you play BG2 to get there...

Another way to access the Undercellar is via the NW room on the ground floor of the "Blushing Mermaid" tavern (NE sector of BG city). But you'll have to pay an entrance fee of ~20 gp to enter (vs. 'crashing' through the sewers...).
