In IWD/HOW expansion there was a pointy hat for mages. I think it could conjure up a whirlwind too, or something like that.
It didn't show up on the avatar tho'

I like the idea of orbitting Ioun Stones - but in which case why can you not use one of those as well as a helmet? Ah well.
