Gatorade is a 'sports drink' a little like waterered down kool-aid. It got it's name b/c it was devoloped by a trainer to help the Florida Gator's football team prevent dehydration.
Rootbeer is a little harder to explain. Perhaps you have heard of A&W or Barqs, these are both popular root beer brands (at least here in the US)
